Boat Detailing at Lake Las Vegas

Sun, hard water and long dry seasons are hard on boats. We clean, restore and protect gelcoat, upholstery and brightwork so your boat looks ready every time you head out.

Boat care for desert water

Boating in the desert is a special kind of hard on a boat. The sun is strong almost every day of the year, the water leaves mineral deposits as it dries, and boats that sit on trailers or under covers between outings collect dust and bake in the heat. Over time gelcoat turns chalky and dull, vinyl seats fade and stiffen, and stainless rails and fittings lose their shine.

Boat detailing focuses on reversing that damage and protecting the boat so it holds up better between trips. It covers runabouts, pontoons, electric boats, wake boats and personal watercraft, as long as we can safely reach the surfaces that need work.

What boat detailing can include

  • Wash and decontaminate. Hull, deck and topsides washed with boat-safe products to remove dust, scum lines and mineral spots.
  • Waterline and stain removal. Brown scum lines and water-spot staining treated with products made for gelcoat.
  • Oxidation removal. Chalky, faded gelcoat machine-polished to bring back color and shine.
  • Protection. A marine wax, sealant or coating to help protect the restored gelcoat from UV and water spotting.
  • Upholstery and vinyl. Seats cleaned and treated to help resist UV damage and mildew.
  • Brightwork and glass. Stainless rails, cleats and windshields cleaned and polished.
  • Flooring and storage. Snap-in carpet, mats and compartments cleaned out and dried.

Boat pricing usually depends on length, condition and how much oxidation needs to be removed. You'll get a clear quote before any work starts.

Where we can detail your boat

The simplest setup is a boat on its trailer at your home or a storage spot where detailing is allowed. Work on the water or at a dock depends on what that property permits, so tell us where the boat is kept when you request a quote and we'll confirm whether we can work there. We'll confirm water and power needs before your appointment.

Gelcoat protection and coatings

Once oxidation is removed, the gelcoat needs protection to stay that way. A quality marine wax or sealant adds a barrier against UV and water spots. For longer protection, a ceramic-style coating made for marine surfaces may be an option; see ceramic coating for how coatings work, and ask us whether it suits your boat.

Before the season and after

Many owners book a restore-and-protect detail before the busy boating months, then lighter washes through the season. At the end of the season, a thorough clean, dry-out and fresh protection before the boat goes under its cover helps prevent mildew and makes the next launch day easier.

Between outings

  • Rinse and dry the boat after use if you can, so minerals don't dry onto the gelcoat.
  • Use a breathable, well-fitted cover to block sun and dust.
  • Open storage compartments to air out and prevent mildew.
  • Wipe vinyl with a gentle cleaner rather than harsh household products.

Boat detailing questions

Can you detail a boat that's in the water?

It depends on where it's kept and what that property allows. Boats on trailers are the simplest. Tell us where your boat is when you request a quote.

How often should a boat be detailed?

Boats used often in strong sun benefit from a wash after use and protection a few times per season. We'll recommend a schedule based on how and where you store it.

Can you fix chalky, faded gelcoat?

Often, yes. Machine polishing can remove oxidation and restore color, unless the gelcoat is worn very thin.

Do you clean boat upholstery?

Yes. Vinyl seats are cleaned with gentle products and treated to help protect them from UV and mildew.

Do you work on personal watercraft?

Yes, personal watercraft can be washed, polished and protected much like a boat.
